Marie Curie
Marie was born on November 7, 1867 in Warsaw, Poland
Marie Curie was the first woman to win a Nobel Prize, as well as the the first person to achieve the top honor twice.
Through collaboration with her husband, Pierre, she developed and introduced the concept of radioactivity to the science community.
Marie & Pierre also discovered and named two radioactive elements, polonium and radium.
Marie Curie’s discoveries in the field of radiation changed the world.
Today, scientists use radiation to treat cancer, produce electricity, detect smoke in homes, and much more!
Marie’s achievements were significant to the development of fundamental science.
Marie Curie’s accomplishments ushered in a new era in the field of scientific research and medical treatment.
